Why I Chose Conservation
Having studied a year of architecture at the University of Lincoln, I found I was more interested in the history of the buildings I was studying over creating new ones. This led me to conservation. I have always had a keen passion in architectural conservation since an early age. Imagining the lives of the people that walked the halls and how they interacted with the unique buildings that they called home. I was always fascinated in how their memory was kept alive through the preservation of objects they once held in their very own hands hundreds of years ago.
Career Aspirations
Having undertook a placement as part of my second year of study at a local cottage turned museum, I found a passion in collection care with a particular interest in environmental monitoring. I hope to continue my development in learning in a practical way. After I complete my degree, I would like to find a job or apprenticeship in this field. I would love to work in a historical house so that I can help apply my knowledge whilst also fulfilling my childhood dreams of working in such environment.
Best University Experience
My favourite experience from university has to be meeting so many of my closest friends over the past years. Not only having made lifelong friends from day one but having the opportunity to meet so many new people over my four years at the university. Academically, my favourite experience would be having the opportunity to explore new paths. As mentioned, I started University as an architecture student but having the freedom to decide this was not the path for me made me grateful for the transition to another with the support of the university and lecturers.
